VIENNA, Austria, June 8, 2015/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- On 5 June, Mauritius ratified the United Nations Convention on Transparency in Treaty-based Investor-State Arbitration (the "Mauritius Convention on Transparency"). It is the first State party to the Convention. The Convention will enter into force six months after the date of the third instrument of ratification or accession.

The Mauritius Sugar Syndicate (MSS) and the Mauritius Chamber of Agriculture hosted the annual conference of the Federation of SADC Sugar Producers (FSSP). It was held at Maritim Hotel, Balaclava from 3 to 5 August 2010. The theme of this conference was: “Paving the way to a sustainable and coherent SADC sugar industry”. On this occasion, Mr. Jacques M. d’Unienville, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Omnicane delivered the keynote address entitled: “Moving from sugar to sugar cane industry: the case of Omnicane”.

Total Revenue for the group increased by 8 % to reach Rs 2.795 Billion while profits rose by 18% to reach Rs 296.8 M. Of pertinent interest was the notable growth in Harel Mallac Engineering’s sales while MCFI was hampered by macro environmental changes which saw the selling prices in the fertilizer market decreasing. As part of growth endeavours, the acquisitions of Chemco and Orinux contribute to enriching an already resilient portfolio.
